The Carpentries is a global program to teach foundational computational and data science skills to researchers. New Zealand trains several potential Carpentries Instructor trainees every year and it is time to train a new cohort of future instructors.Dates for the 2025 instructor training workshops are yet to be announced, but interested candidates are welcome to register their interest now.

We are seeking a Senior HPC Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer to join our passionate team on a full-time, permanent basis. As a Senior HPC Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and services to support the build and operations of the New Zealand eScience Infrastructure’s platforms nationally. 

It has been a very busy few months since we first announced our platform refresh. We’ve been working behind the scenes installing new equipment and collaborating with our vendor partners to configure the new environments and prepare the platforms for project and user migration in the coming months.

We are thrilled to announce our first two keynote speakers who will be headlining the eResearch NZ / eRangahau Aotearoa conference 2025 programme.Every February, the eResearch NZ / eRangahau Aotearoa conference gathers researchers, IT leaders, and eResearch practitioners to connect, converse, and set direction for future digital research leadership in Aotearoa.

Sara King (AARNet) and Nisha Ghatak (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) led a Birds of a Feather (BoF) unconference session at the recent eResearch Australasia 2024 conference, with support from Amany Gouda-Vossos, Kit Greenhill, Kathryn Unsworth, and Matthias Liffers from ARDC. This session on the Carpentries community kicked off with an engaging icebreaker, where participants identified with various personas in the community, such as trainers, instructors, and learners.

Join our online Office Hour sessions in December 2024!These sessions are hosted on Zoom and follow a casual 'drop-in / drop-out' format. You can pop in at any point during the hour and stay for as long or as little as you'd like. Come to ask questions or simply say hello and chat or observe.
