New HPC & AI platforms open to NeSI users
We're excited to announce that NeSI’s new HPC and AI platforms are ready for existing NeSI users to dive in and start working.
This migration brings a rich and high performance platform into the hands of researchers, backed by the same trusted and friendly NeSI team for support and training.
The final countdown begins
With Mahuika and Māui scheduled to be shut down over the coming weeks, it’s time to get moving.
We shared a progress update on Thursday 15 May, including a quick demo of the new environment. You can watch that update below (or on our YouTube channel).
We're sharing all updates to our Timeline in our Support Docs, so it's worth bookmarking this page.
Launched and learning
We’ve put in the preparation – environments are set up, applications tested, data migrated – so we're excited for existing NeSI users to jump in and get started. We'll onboard new projects and users in early June.
We’re working to optimise things iteratively so user activity helps us pinpoint what to improve next. As we work, we'll share release notes and progress updates on the changes.
In a few weeks we’ll report back with transition metrics, and we’re looking forward to sharing early stories of researchers realising benefits.

Stay up to date
- Researchers are receiving instructions and updates directly to their inbox.
If you're an existing NeSI user and you haven't heard from us, please get in touch so we can bring you up to speed.
- You can follow updates on our progress through our user support channels (eg. Support Docs, System Status page, etc.)
- Our online Office Hours are the perfect place to ask any questions (big or small!).
We're ramping these up to a daily frequency starting Monday 19 May.
