REANNZ is a Crown-owned membership organisation operating and supporting a specialist high-performance digital network tailored to meet the unique demands of Aotearoa’s research and education sector.
From July 2025, with the integration of NeSI people and services, REANNZ will offer a comprehensive hub for eResearch in Aotearoa. This new scope will combine the unique capabilities of both organisations to deliver: network products and services; advanced computing (HPC, AI/ML, data analytics) infrastructure and services; community development and skills training; and, researcher-focused support and consulting.
The Senior HPC Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer will:
- Provide technical expertise and services to support the operations, integration and build of advanced computing platforms within REANNZ’s national infrastructure.
- Be responsible for providing compute, data, and other eScience enabling platforms and services to researchers and partner organisations across New Zealand’s science community, optimising availability, ensuring security, and enhancing efficiency.
- Help design future systems, evaluate vendor offerings, manage implementation, acceptance testing and commissioning.

He kōrero mōu | About you
Ideal candidates will bring the following skills and experience to this opportunity:
- Experience in the design, specification, implementation, and operation of distributed computing and/or data services based on Linux and/or Unix, preferably with some having been mission-critical services.
- Comfort with contemporary infrastructure automation and/or configuration management tools such as Ansible (or similar).
- Operational expertise with one or more of: HPC clusters, OpenStack, Linux virtualisation, Kubernetes.
- Experience applying CI/CD tools and techniques to the management of infrastructure and systems services.
- Familiarity with Python (e.g., ability to read, perform basic debugging, and develop new scripts at small scale) or other scripting/programming languages.
