We allow students, academics, alumni and researchers to get secure and seamless access to our computer resources using one set of credentials granted by their home organisation.
NeSI remains open for normal business during Alert Level 3 in Auckland and Alert Level 2 outside of Auckland. Our team is working remotely in Auckland and everyone remains available during this time.
NeSI is a supplier of essential services to research teams working on the COVID-19 response across NZ. If you're involved in this work, please get in touch and we will do our best to assist in any way possible.
"I was modelling a 109-vessel network and after four days the scenario had only 12 per cent completion...The NeSI Consultancy led to this time being cut down to seven-and-a-half hours for the full scenario run."
"With NeSI’s help, the more sophisticated vessel networks were being solved in several hours, whereas on prior estimates they would have taken a few months."
"NeSI gave us the computational power to model these flows... Instead of being limited to a couple of metres in a lab we could simulate flows that covers kilometres of ocean floor.”
“Having access to NeSI computing resources means that we can keep up with the state-of-the-art research in this area, otherwise we simply would not be able to run our code in a reasonable time.”
“When you’re running several big CFD problems and looking at problems on the order of hundreds of thousands or millions of degrees of freedom, you need HPC."
“Without computational resources such as the Pan cluster at NeSI, we would be unable to use accurate, yet computationally demanding, predictive methods such as Large Eddy Simulation."
