Applications Open : Expressions of Interest for Upcoming Carpentries Instructor Training Session
The Carpentries is a global program to teach foundational computational and data management skills to researchers. New Zealand trains several potential Carpentries Instructor trainees every year and it is time to train a new cohort of future instructors.
Our next Carpentries Instructor training course will be held virtually in late October 2022, organised by NeSI, the University of Otago, the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR), and Genomics Aotearoa.
How to apply
To be considered for Carpentries Instructor training, fill out an expression of interest by 31 August 2022.
Even if you are unable to attend the training session in October, you can still use the expression of interest form to apply for future instructor training sessions in 2023.
If you are interested in raising digital literacy in Aotearoa New Zealand by running local workshops (wherever you are based nationally), this training is for you!
This training session aims to achieve the following goals:
Introduce you to evidence-based best-practices of teaching.
Teach you how to create a positive environment for learners at your workshops.
Provide opportunities for you to practice and build your teaching skills.
Help you become integrated into the Carpentries community.
Prepare you to use these skills in teaching Carpentries workshops.

We always appreciate diversity amongst our Carpentries instructors and especially encourage applications from people based in Palmerston North, Hamilton, and Christchurch, as these are locations where we are looking to build-up a stronger Carpentries presence. Applicants from diverse backgrounds, gender expressions, and skills are highly encouraged & warmly welcomed!
